David Nagler is a Brooklyn-based musician, composer, and songwriter. He brings versatility and expertise to every creative endeavor, whether it’s his work in film and TV (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Comedy Central), his eclectic piano bar show at Sid Gold’s Request Room in Manhattan, or his Brazilian music-inspired collective, As For the Future.

Nagler broke into the NYC music world as the frontperson of pop/rock group Nova Social and became the music director in 2009 for Wesley Stace’s Cabinet of Wonders at City Winery, performing live with over 175 different musical artists, including Joan Baez, Aaron Neville, Rosanne Cash, Andrew Bird, Fred Armisen, Steve Earle, Stephin Merritt (of The Magnetic Fields), John Darnielle (of The Mountain Goats), and Yo La Tengo.

Other projects include Carl Sandburg's Chicago Poems, an orchestral folk song cycle featuring Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco), members of the Mekons, and other Chicago musicians, and Tape Hiss, an art rock supergroup featuring members of The Modern Lovers and Sonic Youth. He collaborates regularly with an array of musicians as a songwriter, arranger, piano & keyboard player, guitarist, and singer.

"Because of his affability and boundless talent, Nagler has gone from playing liberally with the indie rock crowd to playing with a lot of people who are at the forefront of contemporary American music." —Rick Moody, The Rumpus
